Problem Home Solution
Lost Separator Floss between the teeth where the separator was lost. If the contact is open and your next appointment is in 1 or 2 days, you should be okay. If it is tight, call us to replace the separator.
Loose Band or Bracket If band or bracket is still attached to wire, leave in place. If uncomfortable, place wax on it. If it comes out completely, wrap brace or band in tissue and bring it to your next appointment.
Loose Wire Try to place wire back in place with tweezers. If this is not possible, clip wire with fingernail clippers behind the last tooth to which it is securely fastened. If any discomfort, place wax on it.
Poking Wire Try to push sticking wire down with an eraser. If not possible, place wax on it.
Lost colored rubber band on brace Notify us at your next appointment. Unless it becomes uncomfortable, there is no need to be seen before your next appointment.
Soreness Use Tylenol or Advil
Irritation Use wax and warm salt water rinses (1/2 tsp. of salt in a small glass of warm water) or Orabase-B Ointment (with Benzocaine).
Headgear or removable appliance not fitting properly Call our office as soon as possible to have it adjusted.
Lost Appliance or Retainer Please call our office as soon as you can to schedule the necessary appointment for a replacement.
